The Rome Shopping List

September and October is one of the busiest times in the city, and I’ve had so many requests to create a shopping guide. Most of these can be found in our Rome Black Book, but we’ve updated everything here, and I also got Matt to do a very extensive men’s guide to shopping in Rome, which he published yesterday in his Wm Brown Weekly Substack.

Women’s Clothing

Giuliva Heritage; Atelier Bomba

Atelier Bomba has lovely off-the-rack, beautifully made classics (especially the delicate knitwear!), but if you want a dress or suit custom-made, this is the spot. Prepare to spend some time here, because Cristina and Michele (mother and son) who own it, are the most charming, warm hosts.

Giuliva Heritage is a beautiful clothing line for men and women, based in Rome. They don’t have a store here (yet!), but they have a gorgeous atelier on Via di Monserrato. You can make an appointment if you’re a serious shopper by contacting them on their site.

Le Tre Sarte – A tasteful collection of women’s clothing, Venetian-style slippers, men’s Nehru vests, on Piazza de’Ricci.

Aspesi – They make the best pants and shirts—elevated basics. The pants have the best cut—a wide leg that is slim on the upper thigh—so they are actually flattering. And they have a forgiving elastic waistband that is wide and doesn’t cut into you. They always produce this pant—in a crisp cotton in summer, and a nice wool for the colder seasons.
