Packing for NY Fashion Week With Jamie Haller

Penny loafers, perfectly cut cashmere sweaters and effortless denim are just some of the puzzle pieces that make up the elegant, somewhat culty (in a good way) namesake womenswear brand founded by Jamie Haller. Based in LA., she launched her label in 2020 following a career in historic home restoration and interior design. We’ve been fans for years of both Jamie and her brand, the epitome of cool-girl uniform dressing, and when we found out she was heading to NYC for her first NYFW presentation, we were dying to know what (and how) she was going to pack.

Tell us about your trip to NYC!

I’m in NYC for about 10 days, showing in my first CFDA NYFW presentation for Spring 2027.

What’s your go-to luggage and why?

I like to check my bag. I hate the feeling of lugging things around. I use Away luggage, the biggest ones they have. They roll smoothly. They do add weight and sometimes get labeled “Heavy,” so I also use my Antler super lightweight bag. It is less stable and is constantly getting knocked over, BUT it always comes in under 50lbs.

How do you approach the basics?

I create as many outfits as I have days, and then usually stuff a few alternatives in there. I like to make small piles to see what I have planned. I only ever wear half of what I bring, relying on wardrobe staples like my Essential Shirt and denim. I like to create a look that works and repeat it.

Are you a roller or a folder?

I do both. I roll silky or lightweight fabrics and fold heavier things like denim, blazers, and sweaters.

Any other packing tricks or hacks?

I like the Away packing cubes, and I like shoe bags. I like everything in its place.

What’s your shoe strategy?

I bring everything. Sneakersrubber flip flops and walk-around everyday shoes like loafers. I rely on my trap pumps for chic comfort and my ballet slippers. I am really excited to wear the new Stretch Leather Low Boot. It feels like a sock but looks luxurious, modern and goes with everything. I usually bring 6-10 pairs of shoes!

How do you think about accessories?

I pack a little case of jewelry and a few belts. I usually bring a couple pairs of earrings, some bangles. Sometimes a special item…last winter I traveled everywhere with a fun vintage stole and hat I got in a Paris brocante. It changes… I like to wear accessories playfully.

Do you have a great travel hat?

No, not really. I do have a beautiful, perfect large straw hat that was given to me. I love to wear it while sunbathing or on the beach, but it’s too delicate to pack, so I never bring it.

What’s always in your Dopp kit/toiletry bag/pharmacy kit?

Bloomeffects Tulip Nectar, Westman Atelier contour and blush stick, OGEE clean lipgloss

My wellness travel trick is to also bring a fresh large ginger and a peeler. I peel off raw ginger throughout the trip, chew it, put it under my tongue, in a cup of hotel room tea. It helps keep my immunity up while traveling. I even take it around in my bag in a plastic baggy for warding off the travel crowd germs.

On a plane, what essentials does your carry-on bag always contain?

I like to carry on a large tote that fits my laptop, cords, extra socks, slippers, and a sweatshirt. Plus wallet, eye-glasses, kindle, phone, a notepad and pen. I typically use my vintage LV bag. Inside I tuck a second purse and use that daily. It’s big enough that my second purse is my new highly coveted Ledger Bag. I am obsessed with it and it’s my go to NYC bag.

Do you have a travel uniform?

I usually wear comfortable but pulled together pants. I have been wearing the Chic Straight Jean lately. I usually travel in a ballet slipper, so I can slip them off when in my seat. I also like to wear something layered, like The Daily Sweatshirt, because I get cold (and sometimes unexpectedly hot).
