The Hari, London

In short… An intimate, artsy, boutique luxury option for anyone who wants to be in Central London—with a highly regarded Italian restaurant, too.

The surroundings…The Hari is ideally located for those visiting London for the first time and looking to be walking distance to most of central London’s attractions. You’re pretty much smack-dab in the middle of Belgravia and Chelsea, which are lovely areas to explore, with lots of great options for dining and shopping. You’re also only a 10-minute walk from both Hyde and Green Park, and equally Buckingham Palace, Savile Row, Soho, Marylebone, and so on…

The vibe… is artsy with lots of photography, sculptures and coffee table books laid throughout the lobby that feel a bit like your collector friend’s living room. In the evening, the lights are lowered and a sultrier vibe takes over. The property itself is fairly small, with just 85 rooms, so the feeling is pretty intimate.

The rooms… I stayed in the Lockhart Suite, a spacious room on the top floor with a separate living room, large marble bathroom, and two balconettes, each with panoramic views of London. I especially liked how the space in this room felt useful, unlike the decorative furniture in many hotel suites: the separate living room with a couch, small table, TV and library wall felt intentional and made the space homey and warm—and had a great selection of books from novels to art and history books, I might add! I was especially a fan of the full marble bathroom with a smart shower/bath combo and lovely made-in-London toiletries.

The food & drink… During my short staycation, I had dinner at Il Pampero, the hotel’s Italian restaurant where breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served. Most of the staff are Italian, which is always a good sign. I started off with a classic cosmo, which was pale pink and executed perfectly. We shared their pici cacio e pepe to start, which is prepared tableside in a parmesan wheel. It was seriously the best cacio e pepe I’ve had outside of Italy, with al dente pasta and great flavor. For my main I had their tagliata, which was also delicious.

The wellness… They have a 24/7 gym and offer tailored running routes for guests around the nearby parks—always a lovely way to explore a new city. There’s no spa on property, though they partner with various dermatologists, wellness providers and skincare brands around London, where guests can book treatments during their stay.

Is it kid-friendly? The property welcomes kids and even offers a Family First package, which includes a stay in a 2-bedroom suite, welcome amenities for kids, childcare supplies, airport transfers, and early/late check-ins with an overall emphasis on a screen-free experience for kids.

Be sure to… have a meal at Il Pampero! In a city like London with a buzzing food scene, hotel restaurants are often overlooked. But the food and cocktails here are genuinely great, and what a relief to just roll upstairs to bed.

Date of stay… March 9th-10th
