In short… Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi is an adobe-style hotel (and former penitentiary!) with cozy rooms that occupy a prime location near the Plaza in downtown Santa Fe.
The vibe… Think full-on Santa Fe: antlers, dried chiles, Navajo-patterned furniture and other Native American-themed decor hanging throughout.

The rooms… Our room, a Superior King, was on the smaller side, so it was a little tight for us and our two full-size suitcases. But the cozy kiva fireplace, a really chic little minibar, and ridiculously comfortable beds made up with beautiful Pendleton blankets compensated for the size.

The wellness… There’s a basic gym that does the trick if you need a workout. The hotel also has bikes on loan to take around the city (my type of wellness). You can arrange for massages in the room, which would be much more feasible in a larger room than we had.

The food… Like most everything in Santa Fe, the menu was Mexican inspired, but with lots of Italian touches. We had a great dinner there, as well as a delicious breakfast.
Be sure to… have a Silver Coin Margarita. I am so judgy with margaritas and this one really tasted like Mexico! Also, enjoy the fireplace in the little reading room. So beautiful and cozy and perfect for a winter break.

Parting words…. I loved visiting this hotel over Christmas (and the tree topper was beautiful). The staff was incredibly nice, especially our super kind Colombian server at the restaurant.
Date of stay… December 2025
