In short… From the Romanelli family, proprietors of the most charming hotel in Venice, Casa Flora is a modern and artsy three-bedroom apartment that offers guests a true taste of living in the city.
The surroundings… On a small side street next to Hotel Flora, Casa Flora is on the top floor of a classic Venetian plaster facade building, a stone’s throw from San Marco. You can get to Cannareggio in 15 minutes, and to Academia in about the same—and the Grand Canal is within walking distance to catch a vaporetto or water taxi to San Giorgio or the Lido.
The backstory… The Romanelli family opened Hotel Flora in 1965 in a 17th-century palazzo that once housed a school of painting. Today it’s overseen by third-generation Gioele and his wife, Helby (they also run the nearby sister hotel, Novocento), who continue to attract a creative crowd to their charming oases. They opened Casa Flora, a 3-BR apartment, in 2017, which also hosts artistic and kitchen residencies.

The vibe… Whereas Hotel Flora is classic and perfectly caught in time, Casa Flora is the cool next-generation spin-off, filled with modern art, a contemporary kitchen, spacious rooms, Rubelli fabrics, and intricate handcrafted details. The apartment is large and comfortable, and can easily accommodate three couples—with a living room, large kitchen, and even larger dining room. Several windows stream that enchanting Venetian light throughout the day, and plants in the rooms reinforce a residential feel. It’s a calm and relaxing place to wake up in, or reset after hours of exploring.

The rooms… Each of the three rooms here is huge, with large and comfortable beds and beautiful original wooden parquet floors. The closets are chic modernist built-ins, and the bathrooms all have huge showers that double as hammams and are stocked with Ortigia products. One of the rooms also has a daybed that can convert to a third single, ideal for families.

Food and drink… Guests at Casa Flora can enjoy breakfast in the lovely little hidden garden at Hotel Flora—where they also serve coffee and bites throughout the day—and claim a seat at Venice’s best jewel box of a bar. The kitchen back at Casa Flora is very well-equipped with cookware and tableware, along with a handful of cookbooks, if you’re inclined to DIY or entertain.

Be sure to… Stay for drinks at Hotel Flora. The bar is intimate and warm with just three stools, occupying the most charming room with a record player. Try a Select spritz—a Venetian classic—if you fancy, and some of the best green olives you’ll ever have.
Date of stay… May 18-20, 2026
