There’s something so beautiful and effortless about a one-piece that instantly feels a little more polished than your average beachwear. And the best part is that they can flatter literally everyone. A good one-piece won’t betray you as you’re climbing up the pool ladder at the Marbella Club, but a great one-piece can pull its weight in your suitcase in a number of other ways. Of course, we love our Ride or Die suits, the bikinis and tanks that basically live in our suitcases in case there is a great hotel pool, but these are the suits with great details we’d reach for when we need a touch of variety on day three of vacation, or want a chameleon that can go from an afternoon dip straight into aperitivo hour.

Hunza G Pamela Suit – We love how simple and timeless this suit with navy-and-white contrast piping is, practically transporting you to 1970s St Tropez.

Dos Gardenias Sophia One Piece – This deep scoopneck suit is exactly what we imagine Sophia Loren would wear poolside at the Pellicano, and we could easily see this taking you straight from the pool to cocktails with a sarong wrapped around it.

Left on Friday Reef Suit – This suit from one of our favorite swimwear brands has great straps that can cross a handful of different ways, completely changing the look. If you prefer more coverage and less frills, their classic Sunday Suit is just as elegant—and how great is this bold cobalt blue?!

Dnud Casino One Piece – Made from the same high quality material as Eres—without the outrageous price tag—Dnud makes some of the most flattering suits on the market. The casino one piece is incredibly chic (also available as a two-piece and in a fuller coverage ribbed version), with retro loops that connect the straps to the body of the suit.

Dnud Coulisse One Piece – Another Dnud suit we can’t get enough of for its adorable ties on the hips that adjust the fit exactly how you want.

Pucci Contrast Suit – Perfect for the minimalist with maximalist tendencies—business in the front, party in the back!

Toteme Strapless Jersey Suit – An elegant yet sturdy strapless option, with super chic B&W contrast piping.

Laura Urbinati V-neck One Piece – So flattering, and such a gorgeous color combination (plus, it’s on sale now!).

Lido Tre One Piece – The low back and straps feel a bit sporty, but in a Bond-girl way, that’s still sleek enough to throw on a skirt and wear straight to drinks.

Matteau Asymmetric Maillot – An athletic-inspired asymmetrical neckline, fitted with darts at the bust and a high-rise back, so even though it’s just one shoulder, it won’t budge if you decide to cannonball off the high dive.

Malia Mills Hailey Suit – Understated and elegant, this comes with a flattering (and removable) sash-belt and is made in a lovely range of colors. Their bra-sized approach to swimwear is genius, and means you really get a much better fit.

Staud Lea One Piece – The pearl button detail on this scoop-back suit is a fun twist on a classic, and can definitely be worn from day to night under a skirt or pants.

J.Crew Striped Suit – We love a stripe in pretty much any form, and this suit transports us immediately to the terrace of Le Sénéquier. If you fall in love with their sculpting scrunchie fabric (we did!) they also make a cute red strapless version.

Heidi Klein Perissa Scallop Suit – The hidden underwire lends lots of support, and we’re a sucker for a good scalloped edge.

Same Double Layer Corset One Piece – The boning detail on the top is really beautiful, and would look great worn as a tank out to dinner or drinks.
