Sausalito, California

I love to find a place with a very faraway feeling, but is super close to a busy city: a great escape for those who live in the area, or as an mini-vacation if you’re visiting the area and want a decompression afterwards. The best is when not everyone knows about it. The Inn Above Tide in Sausalito is just that.

Earlier this summer, my friend Maca brought me to The Inn just outside of San Francisco—the most on-the-water property I think I’ve ever been to. Incredible, and meditative—I could stay there all day and just watch the water, the boats, and the seagulls. However, if you do want to head into the city for dinner, Sausalito is just on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge, a very quick ride depending on what part of the city you’re heading to. Or you can eat locally at Fish (a 5 minute drive) or Sushi Ran (a 10 minute walk)—both are really great.
