Our Miami Hotels List

Miami by Hank Waller
The Miami Dive, Hotel Fontainbleu 1959, by Hank Walker

With its mix of sun-faded Art Deco facades and sleek modern skyscrapers, Miami has a bit of everything. It’s a city we often find ourselves in for a night or two, on a layover en route farther south, or for a quick mid-winter dose of sunshine. But with a crop of new openings and refreshed classics, Miami is making the case for staying a bit longer—slipping into the rhythms of scene-y South Beach, with its sleek lobbies and star-studded dining rooms, or Little Havana, where guayabera-clad abuelos play dominos in the shade of ceiba trees.

Leading the latest wave, The Shelborne by Proper reopened a few months ago, followed next month by the return of The Delano, a midcentury icon that’s been closed for a four-year renovation. And that’s just the start of the revival across South Beach—still to come: Rosewood’s Raleigh and the Aman Miami Beach are slated to open in later this year, with Auberge’s Shore Club coming in ‘27 and Bulgari set to open their first US property here in ‘28. From low-key cottagey stays to Collins Ave icons—as well as a smattering of “Costa Meno” (affordable) options, labeled with (CM), in what can be an excessively priced city—we’re sure you’ll find your beach.

The Shelbourne; Esme Miami Beach

Esmé Miami Beach – Colorful, jewelbox rooms with lots of personality and a sweet rooftop pool. (CM)

The Betsy – Probably the most dog-friendly option in the area, the Betsy is a boutique remake of a midcentury Florida Georgian-style hotel named for Betsy Ross—that leans preppy but not stuffy.

The Delano – Party central in the ‘90s, this South Beach midcentury icon is reopening in late April ’26 as a wellness mecca (and the latest in a latter-day expansion for the brand, in Dubai and Paris). A huge spa will replace the basement night club, which will be centered around a “social sauna” for 28 people. With 170 light, airy rooms (down from 190 keys) and a new pool on the fourth floor for guests only, this promises to have the vibe of a reformed club kid now dedicated to longevity hacking.
