My New Winter Staples

In January I was at Pitti Uomo in Florence, and had lunch at Cammillo with my Florentine friend Sciascia. She brought me a little gift—a ribbed green undershirt from an Italian company called Oscalito, which they sell at Quercioli & Lucherini (but you can find them online!). While I’m not normally an undershirt person, it was freezing that week, so I wore it underneath everything. I love that it’s a blend of silk and merino wool, and I love the forest-green color—it can peek out underneath other layers, and still looks polished.

The chocolate-brown cashmere sweater is another Florentine find, which I bought at Margaret Howell, on Piazza Carlo Goldoni. I think she makes the best cashmere sweaters—they don’t pill up, and they are the softest.

Lastly, this wool polka-dot scarf from William Crabtree in London is the perfect accent. I’m always a fan of small polka dots, usually in navy. But this burgundy-meets-maroon gives a little pop of color, yet still functions as a neutral.
