Hotel Florida, Paris

In short…  Hotel Florida is a chic and charming newcomer (opened in March 2024) in Paris that couldn’t be more convenient, just a stone’s throw from the Madeleine—and incredibly reasonable prices ranging from 250 to 500 euros.

The vibe…  While we were only at Hotel Florida for 24 hours, I spent a lot of that time saying that I couldn’t believe the value for money and how perfect the location was. Located in the 8th, with entrances on Boulevard de Malesherbes and the smaller Rue Chauveau Lagarde, this triangular Haussmann building is easy for walking everywhere, as well as getting picked up or dropped off. But it’s also not on a street with lots of retail or restaurants, so it feels almost residential, with everything you want just blocks away. Inside, it’s well laid out, with a dedicated reception area, a restaurant and bar, and a quiet salon area that has places to lounge, work, or meet.

The rooms…  Art deco meets ‘70s elements with a very fresh palette—cornflower blue, goldy mustard, and a floral wallpaper we loved. I’ve never seen these colors together and we took a lot of photos for future project inspiration. The space was so thoughtfully considered by Liautard and the Queen who were the interior architects; in a small corner, they managed to put in a banquette and table which made it feel like we had a proper working space. Floor-to-ceiling windows with good soundproofing (in fact, great soundproofing all around) gave off great light, and I loved that they have actual wall switches for the lighting.

The food & drink…  They have a very cool restaurant and bar called Nepita, but unfortunately we didn’t manage to eat here since our stay was so short, and we don’t usually eat breakfast. But we could tell that it was already a real neighborhood place–especially given that it’s open from breakfast to late night. At lunch, we could tell it was a very cool local crowd, and we studied the menu (Mediterranean influenced with a focus on local suppliers) and spied on their plates, and everything looked so fresh and unfussy. The bar scene had the same vibe, more local than touristy feeling.

Be sure to…  Owner Matthieu Dumas is a restaurateur who is deeply passionate about wine, and this is his first hotel project. Definitely check out the wine cellar and his wine list, which is organized by grape varietals rather than regions, with a focus on biodynamic, natural and sustainable wines, from producers who are renowned and hard to source.

Date of Stay:  May 2024

We just completed a stay at Hotel Florida, following this recommendation, and the description here is accurate. Our room was spacious with lots of windows and lovely light. The staff was incredibly kind and the location was quiet, yet convenient. Thank you for the recommendation!
