Portrait Firenze, Florence

In short… Portrait Firenze is a chic hotel from the Ferragamo family hotel collection that hovers over the Arno River

The vibe… Not old-world in the least (it’s a post-war building), the Portrait Firenze feels more like a chic apartment building. When you walk in, you enter into the lounge area (which swings more mid-century and cozy), not a trad check-in desk, immediately setting the mood of this is your personal space. Staff are more casual and not overly hotel-y, but take care of anything you need seamlessly.

The rooms… The design echoes the mid-century-ish vibe, but are very bright with floor-to-ceiling windows and light neutral-toned furniture. I found myself endlessly staring out at the Ponte Vecchio, completely mesmerized by the rowers on the Arno.

The food and drink… The breakfast is so good—from the healthy juicer section to the most insane pastries. Their Caffè dell’Oro serves all day, and is a great place to meet up with friends for aperitivo. Even in January it was sunny enough to sit outside, and its location is so central you run into anyone who happens to be in town.

Be sure to… Walk around the hallways and look at all the framed vintage Ferragamo images—they are incredible.

Date of stay… Jan 10-12, 2023
