In short… A Rocco Forte Hotel, it has the playful feeling of a boutique property, while being centrally located and great for kids.
The surroundings… Smack in the middle of the old town, between the famous Manneken Pis, the Bruxelles-Central train station, and the very impressive Grand-Place, the Hotel Amigo could not be better located for a quick in-and-out trip to Brussels.

The vibe… Beautiful large, dark worn down stones on the lobby floor give you a hint of the age of the building (around 500 years old) and lead you to the dark wooden front desk. The staff is extremely friendly and you get a warm feeling immediately when you walk in. Being Brussels, multiple languages are spoken throughout. The Magritte Bar, with its Art Deco jewel tones, sits next to the lobby and the Italian restaurant Bocconi is on the left.

The rooms… Absolute fun! We stayed in the Tintin suite–an homage to the Belgian cartoon. It was playful and an absolute dream for the kids. There were two canes and top hats (from the Thomson and Thompson detective characters) hidden away in the closets, which the kids discovered and wore all around the rooms. The bathrooms are spacious, luxurious, and very comfortable with marble tops and Irene Forte amenities throughout. We had a very large changing room, a large foyer, multiple closets and two bedrooms and bathrooms. The second bedroom for the children had Tintin bedspreads, framed cartoon artwork on the wall, books, prints and a drawing signed by Steven Spielberg from when he stayed at Hotel Amigo during the Tintin film launch. The corner suite is on the 4th floor and has beautiful rooftop views of stunning Brussels Town Hall.
The wellness… There is a gym, but it’s really for those who desperately want to work out. The room is small, but with all the equipment you could need. Our bedroom also had a workout pad with different stretching positions and free weights.

The food… Our stay was short so we only managed to have breakfast at the Bocconi restaurant. It was an extensive brunch setup, with everything one can expect from a luxury hotel.
Extra tip goes to… Anas at the front desk. He speaks French, Spanish, English… and probably a handful more. He was kind, helpful and so accommodating with the kids.
Be sure to… Have a drink at the chic Bar Magritte. The bartender Christian is wonderful, and all the cocktails are delicious. The three -room layout of the bar gives the space a nice visual flow.

Parting words… This hotel was a true pleasure to stay in. I normally shy away from larger chain hotels, but the Amigo had the feeling of a boutique property. They nailed it with the children. The rooms had gifts, child-friendly maps of things to do in the city, and surprises throughout. The rooms and hallways are not overly luxurious, but they are still very comfortable and the attention to detail is top notch. There are details that could be updated like some furniture pieces, fabrics, bedding prints, etc., but that did not take away from the experience. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
Date of stay… August 2025
