Tell us about you and your company.

In 1998, I found Pilates and left my publishing job. The studio I went to was the home of the woman who had taken over for Joseph Pilates when he died (she was in her 80s too) and who carried on his way of teaching. I entered her training program without intending to start a new career, but two years later I was teaching out of my West Village walkup. Along the way, I met my husband (he was a photo assistant for Yolanda’s husband, Matt Hranek) and we moved to LA. I found that much of the Pilates here was blended with other things and lacked the power I knew it could have. There were only a few teachers left who’d known Joseph Pilates and I realized if the original method was to survive, it needed to be recorded. To do that, my husband and I launched Pilatesology in 2011 and have amassed a library of over 2,000 classes, led by the world-renowned instructors I trained with myself. Our mission is to make the original style of Pilates accessible to everyone and honor the legacy of Joseph Pilates.
